13-Year-Old Texas Girl Killed in Rollover on I-10 in Tuscon
TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) – A 13-year-old girl from Texas was killed in a rollover crash that injured several members of her family Sunday in Tucson, officials said.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety 13-year-old Nancy Alvarez was killed in the single-vehicle crash that injured five others.
Authorities said the teenager and family members were in a 2003 GMC sport utility vehicle returning to Canutillo, Texas after visiting relatives in Arizona when the SUV left the road and rolled at 11:11 a.m. Sunday while driving on Interstate 10 near Cortaro Road.
Police said driver Abigail Garay, 28, and passengers Ashley Alvarez, 11, Celeste Alvarez, 15, and Jocabed Alvarez, 36, all received minor injuries. Passenger Maria Arias, 78, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
An investigation continues to determine the cause of the crash.
