Clovis Man Killed, Others Injured in Chevrolet Tahoe Rollover Crash

PNT Reports

A Clovis man died and four other people were injured in a one-vehicle rollover crash early this morning near Portales.

State Police Lt. Cleo Baker said a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 27-year-old Tyrone Phillips of Clovis was east-bound on U.S. 70 when the driver lost control just before 2 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 70 and Roosevelt Road P. The vehicle rolled several times, and three of the five occupants were ejected.

Baker said Bryian Phillips, 29, of Clovis was pronounced dead at Roosevelt General Hospital. Shannon Stonelake, 30, of Clovis was airlifted to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock with spine and neck injuries, he said.

Heather Chretien, 24, also of Clovis was taken to Roosevelt General Hospital with injuries that Baker said didn’t appear life-threatening. Tyrone Phillips and Christopher Phillips, 23, of Clovis, were not ejected and had minor injuries. Baker said he believed the Phillips men were brothers. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
