Chevrolet Pickup Truck Fuel Fed Fire
On April 6, 2003, William Thomas Gorden, 22, a carpenter, was operating his 1974 Chevrolet pickup northbound on FM 1485 in Conroe when his truck was broadsided by another pickup driven by Defendant Cindy Jackson. Gorden's pickup burst into flames, killing him.
 Rob Ammons was retained by Gorden's survivors and to represent Gorden's estate. Ammons filed a products liability suit against General Motors Corporation, makers of the Chevrolet pickup, claiming that design defects made the vehicle overly vulnerable to fire and prone to explosion. In particular, Ammons alleged that placement of the gas tank outside of the frame rails made the pickup more prone to fire if hit from the side, arguing that the design left the fuel tank negligently exposed to impact.

The case was aggressively pursued by Ammons and a confidential settlement was obtained.
